Closed Casket

FA The Kimballs, 2000
CREATED
UPDATED

Description

Sustained, intricate slabbing on rock that is generally relatively clean and solid. Feels progressively more runout and the crux is in the upper half. From the last bolt, the last bolt and anchors of

Pyramid Scheme

are the only gear one sees; while it is possible to diagonal left to

PS's

anchors, CC continues straight up to hidden anchors, just above the left of

PS's

.

Since this unfrequented slab is subject to frequent afternoon cleansings, it will rarely have significant chalk on it, making it feel harder and more adventurous.

Location

On "Pyramid Buttress", a 100' high compact shield or rock at the bottom right (south) side of Lower Great Face, there are at present three lines of bolts. The leftmost is Trance Dance (5.11), The middle

Pyramid Scheme

(5.10) and the rightmost Closed Casket (5.10).

Protection

7 bolts.
