Description
Ding and Dong are a pair of steep, deep, intimidating, old school Wiggins chimneys. Both require exceptionally large gear and are rarely climbed.
Tunnel deeply into the right chimney. There is hand-sized protection in the back, but the chimney narrows too much to continue up along this crack system. Find a spot where your body and your biggest gear are happy, and head up. The chimney eventually narrows into an offwidth protected by a #6 cam. Belay at the ledge above.
Continue up enjoyable hand cracks and nicely featured rock for about 120 feet until you reach easy terrain. Top out, and then scramble off the backside.
Location
Find the pair of striking, deep chimneys near the middle of the crag. You can't miss them. Dong is the right one.
Protection
Cams to BD #8 or equivalent.
