Description
I wish the eggshell part went on for another 100 feet!
Though small, this is a fun little climb that involves a little lie backing and jamming up a wide flake Resembling an eggshell peeling off of the mountain.
Pitch 2: From the top of the eggshell pitch, build an anchor and traverse out right and up the crack system to the top of the formation. once at the top, walk to your left and find a small tree to rappel from.
Location
Approach:
Park at or before the bridge and walk up the road a bit and go left at the bridge, just as for the Diamond Back Crack. Walk past diamond back crack along a little trail that heads upriver. From this trail you’ll be able to see the two routes just above the trail on your left. Walk the trail until you’re at the base of the rock formation and then walk up the slick, grassy slope to the base of the climbs. Once standing under the climbs, hike to the upper left side and scramble up to the ledge from where you’ll belay.
Protection
Bring large gear and several #2 or #1 Camelot’s for the belay anchor. Large stoppers also recommended.
There is a 1.5 inch diameter pine tree slung with webbing to rappel on but bring extra webbing as the rodents will have no doubt eaten the old sling! Back the tree up with a .5 & .75 Camelot in the short, vertical crack right of the tree if your buddy is rappelling first.
