Captains Of The Industry

Simply amazing, this incredible line vies for the best mid-level boulder in the canyon. COTI is the striking and very highball face/arete down canyon from New River Wall.

Begin all the way at the bottom of the arete on a pair of crimps at 6 feet. Move up through increasingly difficult terrain with perfect flow to a committing crux move at 20 feet. There are several different methods to do this crux, and all are hard and scary. After the hardest move, continue into the no fall zone using perfectly sculpted holds on the arete and the crack systems on the face. Rock over the lip using a jug block, and stand on the slab. Find a way to cautiously work down the sketchy slab to the left.

With perfect rock, perfect moves, and perfect holds along with a flat landing, Captains is one of the king lines of CCC and should not be missed by anyone who likes to get off the ground.

This along with Loafty are in the zone about 200 yards down canyon and on the hillside part of the road from New River Wall. Park there, and walk down the road to a short scramble up the steep hillsides. The boulder is visible from the road. The approach takes 5 minutes.

At least 4 pads and a spot. Falling off the top isn’t really an option....
