Boveng's Overhang

FA Bill Dockins, Peter Boveng, & Dave Batten (July 1982)

UPDATED

Description

This very difficult to protect, yet fun route, is worth ticking off at least once. Climb up extremely excellent crystalline pink rock below the large roof. Move towards the roofs left margin, and pull the airy move up onto the face above. Rock quality decreases after the roof.

Descent:

Walk off right.

Location

River facing prow of the most northerly (closest to the Waltz) buttress in the BO area.

Protection

Minimal and not confidence inspiring. Micro cams and nuts up to BD#1. No fixed anchors. Fantastic crack for the belay about 10' back from the lip.

To build a TR gear anchor, bring a couple of cordalettes, and a few cams from finger to hand sized.
