Superman

Description

Superman is a classic route at Reed's Creek in West Virginia. Ascend the narrow face of a blocky arete to the wide face above, moving right until exposed. Finish on cold shuts and links.

Top of the cliff is all private land; don't go there. Trespassing isn't cool.

Location

At the left end of the reed's Creek crag, find the blocky arete just right of a steep, soil-filled gully (faces left).

Protection

There are 4 bolts and welded cold shuts, no chains at the top. A fifth bolt had been added to start the route lower down (with FA permission) to combat erosion issues. However, this proved ineffective and may have made issues worse, somehow encouraging people to scramble up (off route) from the lower belay to the upper ledge and kick more dirt and rocks down. Start from the ledge shown in the picture, and be very, very careful near the edge.
